Archibald, 6TH Earl was the grandfather of Darnley who married Mary Queen of Scots. Mary and Darnley were 1st cousins -- both were the grandchildren of Margaret Tudor -- and Mary gave birth to James VI who would inherit both the Scottish and English thrones.
